Day 15: 365 Day Activity Challenge

Story Sunday

This week Jack & Mikey have been enjoying the story: The three little pigs.

It goes like this:

Once upon a time there were three little pigs and the time came for them to leave home and build their own homes.

The first little pig built his house out of straw because it was the easiest thing to do. The second little pig built his house out of sticks. This was a little bit stronger than a straw house. The third little pig built his house out of bricks.

One night the big bad wolf, who loved to eat little piggies, came along and saw the first little pig in his house of straw. He said “Let me in, Let me in, little pig or I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down!” “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin”, said the little pig. But of course the wolf did blow the house in and ate the first little pig.

The wolf then came to the house of sticks. “Let me in ,Let me in little pig or I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down” “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin”, said the little pig. But the wolf blew that house in too, and ate the second little pig.

The wolf then came to the house of bricks. ” Let me in , let me in” cried the wolf “Or I’ll huff and I’ll puff till I blow your house down” “Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin” said the pigs. Well, the wolf huffed and puffed but he could not blow down that brick house.

But the wolf was a sly old wolf and he climbed up on the roof to look for a way into the brick house.

The little pig saw the wolf climb up on the roof and lit a roaring fire in the fireplace and placed on it a large kettle of water.

When the wolf finally found the hole in the chimney he crawled down and KERSPLASH right into that kettle of water and that was the end of his troubles with the big bad wolf.

And he lived happily ever after!

The boys loved this story, especially the “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down” parts, they liked joining in. It really helped with increasing Mikey’s eye contact and it made the story fun where the boys could join in and read a long.

I have a feeling the three little pigs will be the boys new favourite bed time story.

Day 14: 365 Day Activity Challenge

Saturday 14th January 2017

So today was supposed to be Sensory Saturday but the boys have just wanted to be outside today and how can I deny them the enjoyment of playing outdoors?

So today we played bouncing…on a trampoline!

Ok, it’s a pretty simple activity, but there’s nothing kids love more than to jump around and since this is a safe piece of equipment they can use rather than jumping on my bed (which they do and it scares the life out of me).

So here they are at Nanny’s house playing on the trampoline.

Day 12: 365 Day Activity Challenge & a review of Eat, Sleep, Doodle.

12th January 2017

Sorry guys, this one is a day late! But I am a Mummy of three and this is all real, so there are going to be the days you just don’t stop and Thursday the 12th Jan 2017 was one of them days!

It rained and rained and rained, it also snowed…a little.

So what more is there to do than Eat, Sleep, Doodle

Looking for something fun and interesting, yet different for your kids! Well here it is….

We have place mats, which actually have pictures of dinner plates, a knife and a fork on. They are made out of fabric and to come with it is a pack of fabric pens and the best part….you can put them through the wash! That’s right, use them scribble on them, then wash them and use them again!

The kids love them, especially Jack! It’s great to keep them occupied when they are waiting for food or just to have fun with as a great activity.

On their site they have all sorts of cool ideas for fabric doodles such as pillow cases and bags!

Check out their site: Eat, Sleep, Doodle

The boys loved playing something a bit different, this is really a unique idea that can be used again and again and again!

So that’s what our thoughtful Thursday consisted of, lots of lovely drawings.

Day 11: 365 Day Activity Challenge

11th January 2017

Today is Wacky Wednesday and the 11th day of my 365 day activity challenge.

Wacky finger painting!

Today we decided to have some teatime fun and we used the boys place mats from Eat Sleep Doodle  which the boys are going to colour in later this week!

Today they wanted to just have fun with painting, so we just used their fingers to do some finger painting after their tea (Mikey had stolen his sister’s dummy).

Day 10: 365 Activity Challenge

10th January 2017

It’s toy Tuesday!

Today, Jack has been at Nursery and told me about the different toys he’s played with, he was also very keen on a “motorbike” until he went over the handle bars 🙈

Mikey has seen his Portage worker for the first time, which is a specialist who uses play to improve his social and communication skills.

When they both got home we lined up all of their favourite toys around the living room and made a “bear trail” as Jack called it, unfortunately I didn’t get a picture but I did get one of Mikey lining up his favourite two toys his “choo choo train” and his “gary snail”.

Today was more of a chilled day than an organised activity, but we’ve had appointment after appointment the last few days so I thought a bit of chill time with their favourite toys would be fun.

Day 9: 365 Day Activity Challenge

9th January 2017

Our “sort of” messy Monday, so today I had plans to have a food colouring/shaving foam crazy messy Monday, but Mikey had an appointment at speech therapy (which I will write a separate post about) so we winged it a bit, but I got pretty messy so I guess that counts!

We’ve been playing with bubbles allllllllll day! Anyone with a kid in speech therapy will totally understand what I mean. Bubbles are a really easy word to say and it means you get eye contact with your child, which is a big turning point for Mikey.

So all day we’ve been blowing  bubbles and looking at what colours and reflections are in them, plus we’ve been trying to keep them up in the air for as long as we can without them popping, it’s been really fun!
