Three poorly babies

I know Jack & Mikey aren’t technically “babies” but they are MY babies, so I have three poorly babies today.

It’s been starting for a few days but today it’s hit our household like a bacteria filled bomb, all three have sticky eyes (Yuck!), poor Jack woke up and thought he was blind! 🙈

Mikey has no comprehension of why I have to clean his eyes, he’s the hardest one to help. Jack doesn’t like having his eyes cleaned (using boiling water and cotton wool) plus eye drops, but he knows he needs them and if he just plays along it’s over a lot quicker than if he fights me, Nicole hates having her eyes cleaned (she’s too young for drops) but is too little fight back, so just gives me a guilty feeling with her bottom lip.

But Mikey, he is the strongest out of all three and hates any sort of intervention, wiping his nose, washing his hair, changing his bum…he’s not a fan of anything like that, so trying to swipe his eyes with cotton wool in one direction so I’m not rubbing it back into his eye, then putting in eye drops is near-impossible, but I managed it, I may have had to gently restrain him with my legs, but it took me no longer than a minute, whereas I could have sat there for an hour trying to reason with him but got nowhere, if you are a fan of the TV show Friends….Imagine Rachel with the eye drop, but x10!

I had plans to take the kids out to the park today or maybe even to a play area, but I’m not so well myself and really all they want to do is stay in their pyjamas and watch TV, so I’m not going to pass up the opportunity to chill with them and not spread this cold/virus/eye infection whatever you want to call it, to the outside world.

Kids perk up pretty quickly so I’m hoping they’ll be OK for nursery and a play date tomorrow, there’s really no way to tell until the morning with kids, they are pretty unpredictable. I know they’ll be absolutely gutted to miss out but I suppose it’s my job to decide what is best and weigh up the pros and cons, they’ve been having their eye drops for two days now, so hopefully their eye will be better by tomorrow.

I’m doing a video on my Vlog about my poorly babies, check it out and please subscribe

Chucklebutties Play & Party Centre

When visiting family in Codnor we were looking for a soft play area for Jack & Mikey to play in. Google and recommendations from family all said Chucklebutties. So we drove to Belper and arrived at a picturesque car park.

The beautiful scenery was enough for even the kids to stare at in awe, next to it was the play area, from the outside it looked very small and not very modern, so impressions from the outside were maybe that this isn’t going to be the best soft play we’ve been to, well weren’t we taught to not judge a book by it’s cover, as you step inside the are is huge!

There’s first of all a huge seating area beside a floor to ceiling window with the beautiful river views outside and it had a touch that couldn’t have been more perfect for our little boys….a Peppa Pig car!

The play area is massive, with an area for the smaller babies and plenty of slides, ball pools and a football area at the top for the bigger kids! Being a mum of two small kids I visit a lot of soft play areas and one thing I always take notice of is the cleanliness, usually the areas are used so much the look like they could do with a good scrub, but not Chuckle butties, I couldn’t fault it!

We also had our lunch there, the food was amazing and the cup of tea was lovely! It was fresh tea that came with a strainer! I was very impressed with the staff’s dedication to their jobs, the girl who served us was extremely friendly and explained the boys couldn’t wear their shoes on the soft play but also couldn’t go barefoot, unfortunately the boys both had sandals and no socks on, but luckily they sold socks! £1.20 a pair, yep if we shopped around maybe we could have got them cheaper elsewhere, but it’s not extortionate especially for kids socks, I’m sure some people would complain, but I was pleased about their dedication to keeping the area clean and hygienic, since my kids are going to be rolling around all over the place and putting their hands in the mouths, I have no complaints!

All in all it was a great few hours, we then walked five minutes to walk around Belper river gardens which was beautiful, extremely clean and kept well with a great park!

So if your in Belper give Chucklebutties a visit! It really made our day!
