A break from blogging

So  I’ve had a bit of a break from blogging the last few months. I’ve really missed it and feel there are so many things I have missed recording about my little monkey’s.

To re-cap I have two little boys Jack (2.5 yrs) and Michael (1.5 yrs) and write about all the trials and tribulations of being their mummy. Since I stopped blogging things have changed quite a lot, I am now expect a baby GIRL!

I will talk about my pregnancy more in upcoming posts but I’m still in shock it is a girl!

I just wanted to write a quick post about why I haven’t been blogging for a while, there has been no major reason other than life just getting in the way.

So now I have my 2yr old, 1 yr old, 20 weeks Pregnancy and my wedding in 8 weeks! Safe to say I have plenty to write about…..

A child too far?

When I read a headline in the news “Women has been abandoned whilst pregnant” I shudder, nobody wants to be left heartbroken explaining to their children that Daddy isn’t going to live with them any more. We may be mothers, designed to withstand a high level of stress but we are still human.

So you’ve read the above paragraph, you feel sorry for this woman right? Well I missed out some of the headline…

“Woman claims she has been abandoned whilst pregnant with twelfth child”

I have missed these words purposely to show your reaction and how cleverly this has been written. First there is the word claims. Most women don’t claim their husband has left them, claim is a word used when someone is accusing another person of theft or drug taking, not for leaving a relationship. I assume the word claims has been used alongside the words twelfth child, as it draws attention, without knowing it we assume this lady is on benefits, which she is, but do you think differently of her broken heart now you know she’s on benefits?

Then we come to her twelfth child, don’t get me wrong, I can’t see how anyone could cope and show enough attention and love to 12 children, but she has. Do you now have less sympathy for her because she has so many children?

Maybe she deserves more sympathy because her and her husband may have had a routine to care for their brood, now she’s left alone this will be in tatters.

Did your opinion change after reading the second headline?

Does this woman deserve our sympathy?

Or should she have stopped at our society’s ‘normal’ number of children?
