A break from blogging

So  I’ve had a bit of a break from blogging the last few months. I’ve really missed it and feel there are so many things I have missed recording about my little monkey’s.

To re-cap I have two little boys Jack (2.5 yrs) and Michael (1.5 yrs) and write about all the trials and tribulations of being their mummy. Since I stopped blogging things have changed quite a lot, I am now expect a baby GIRL!

I will talk about my pregnancy more in upcoming posts but I’m still in shock it is a girl!

I just wanted to write a quick post about why I haven’t been blogging for a while, there has been no major reason other than life just getting in the way.

So now I have my 2yr old, 1 yr old, 20 weeks Pregnancy and my wedding in 8 weeks! Safe to say I have plenty to write about…..

50 Shades of Grey Movie

Two years ago, I was swept up in the 50 Shades of Grey hysteria (my eldest son was even born around 9 months later!). The announcement of the movie being released in 2015 gave me a ‘twinge’ of guilty pleasure. So when Valentine’s Day rolled around and it happened to be the one night a month I send my children to nanny’s house, I couldn’t resist whisking my hubby off for a front row seat! Following reading endless bad reviews, I was expecting to leave disappointed, but I was pleasantly surprised!

Christian Grey wasn’t what I’d expected, he was a lot younger, less creepy, yet more enticing. On the other hand Ana, was completely fitting to her character’s description, yet unexpectedly I found my self relating to her…no I’m not going to purchase genital clamps any time soon (cringe) but the way in which Dakota Johnson portrays her awkward yet comical reactions to the more hard-core suggestions by Mr Grey really brought her character to life, she made her ‘real’.

Throughout the lip biting story I was swept away by the exquisitely chosen soundtrack and the cliff-hanger ending has me on the edge of my seat eagerly awaiting the sequel!

Mummy & Daddy’s Night Off

Mummy & Daddy’s Night Off!

So this Saturday (if you’re in the UK like me) it’s Valentine’s Day!

We’re not usually big on celebrating it and normally just have a lovely meal cooked at home (which isn’t different to most days in our home, except maybe that we’ll eat around the table).

If you’ve read my previous posts, you’ll remember that my mum has our two children Jack & Mikey one Saturday every month overnight to give us a break, well….guess when Valentine’s Day falls? You guessed it, on our night off!

So we had no excuse not to make an effort…did we? We’re not buying each other gifts or cards, because really it’s just an added expense we don’t need, just for the sake of buying each other useless gifts. But we are going for a meal (meal deal of course) at a local Italian restaurant and then going to the cinema to watch…50 Shades of Grey, which when I tell anyone makes me cringe like a naughty child, but we’ve read the books and wanted to check out the movie so why not?!

Having babies has brought us closer together as parents, we work amazingly as a team, but as a couple, we haven’t drifted, but we don’t want it to get to that point. You see we give each other one hour a night where each of us can do what we want, I usually go for an hour long bath and read my trashy magazine and Paul will either go in our make-shift gym in the cellar or up for a sleep.

So for the one night a month we aren’t mummy and daddy, we’re Emma and Paul and although we love our children and dedicate our entire lives to them, that one night a month is something to look forward to when they’re testing our patience.
